Vol. 381 No. 9

Written Answers. - Child Residential Care.

65.

asked the Minister for Health when residential care will be provided for a child (details supplied) in County Kildare who is autistic and hyperactive and who has been assessed as moderately to severely handicapped and in urgent need of behavioural correction.

The provision of residential care in this case is a matter for the Eastern Health Board in the first instance. I have made inquiries about this case and I understand that while the health board are unable to provide a suitble residential place immediately they will continue to keep her under consideration for a suitable placement when this becomes available.
