asked the Minister for Justice if he will indicate the total number of staff employed in his Department in September, 1987; the total number of staff by grade in his Department who have to date opted for voluntary redundancy or early retirement under the existing scheme for this purpose; and the number of staff by grade and agency who have to date availed of the scheme in agencies, bodies or statutory authorities which operate under the aegis of his Department.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if he will indicate the total number of staff employed in his Department in September 1987; the total number of staff by grade in his Department who have to date opted for voluntary redundancy or early retirement under the existing scheme for this purpose; and the number of staff by grade and agency who have to date availed of the scheme in agencies, bodies or statutory authorities which operate under the aegis of his Department.

The total number of staff employed in my Department on 30 September 1987 was 1,070½*.

A total of 72 applications have been received from staff in my Department who wish to avail of the early retirement/voluntary redundancy scheme. A breakdown of the numbers by grade is as follows:
