Vol. 384 No. 9

Written Answers. - Irish Citizenship Application.

67.

asked the Minister for Justice when a decision will be made on a claim for Irish citizenship by a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and if his attention has been drawn to the long delay to date in the processing of this application.

According to departmental records the person referred to in the question lodged a declaration in August 1986 accepting Irish citizenship as post-nuptial citizenship. It is necessary to make detailed inquiries in this case to establish whether the applicant is entitled to post-nuptial citizenship here and these inquiries are continuing. When they have been completed the applicant will be notified of the position.
