Vol. 385 No. 6

Written Answers. - Pension Reduction.

159.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the reduction in payment of a Garda widow's pension for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will restore payment to the original amount.

The payment was reduced because one of the pensioner's children had attained the age of 16 years and a certificate from a school that the child was continuing in full-time education was not received in the Paymaster General's Office. The pensioner was informed earlier this year that the pension applicable to the child in question would cease at age 16 if the necessary certificate was not forthcoming. Payment can be restored to the original amount, with retrospective effect, on receipt of the certificate.
