Vol. 385 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

160.

asked the Minister for finance the reason for the delay in payment of a tax rebate to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford who has not received any payment to date; and when payment will be made.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that there was no undue delay in dealing with the matter.

The taxpayer ceased employment on 19 August 1988 and submitted a claim for repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment to the Inspector of Taxes on 5 October 1988. The claim was dealt with and a cheque in settlement of the refund due was issued on 19 October 1988.

A further claim was submitted on 5 December 1988. The claim has been dealt with and a cheque in settlement should reach the taxpayer shortly.

If the taxpayer remains unemployed, he may submit further claims for repayment of tax deducted.
