Vol. 385 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Transport.

276.

asked the Minister for Education if she will restore the school transport service between the Shragh-Cappinsmear area to Borrisokane national school, County Tipperary; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

As there were only six eligible children offering for transport from this area to Borrisokane national school, it is not open to my Department to authorise the reintroduction of this service.

277.

asked the Minister for Education the reason her Department refuse to provide school transport for children from the Littleton area to Cashel Deanery national school, County Tipperary in view of the fact that the application meets all rules and regulations laid down by her Department and eligibility has been confirmed by her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Under the terms of the primary school transport scheme a service may only be established if this can be done within reasonable cost limits. This requirement is not met in this instance. The school authorities have been informed that grants towards the cost of private transport arrangements are being made available.
