Earlier this year I conveyed approval, in principle, to Connaught Airport Development Company Ltd. for free port status for a site at the airport. This approval was conditional on details being made available to my Department in relation to firm commitments by industrialists and businesses to locate at the free port together with an outline of the additional economic activity to be generated by such investments, including targets for job creation. My Department is at present in consultation with representatives of the airport company regarding these and other related matters.
