Vol. 387 No. 2

Written Answers. - Withdrawal of School Transport.

25.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the withdrawal of school transport in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Donegal who is attending a special class; and if she will reinstate transport in this case, at least until the end of the current school year.

The pupil in question resides nearly 20 miles from Niall Mór national school, Killybegs, and is the only pupil offering for transport from the general area.

It would not be open to the Department to sanction the continuation of the service involving 77 miles per day at very high cost.

An alternative grant towards private transport arrangements has been offered to the family.
