Vol. 387 No. 5

Written Answers. - Foreign Births' Registration.

30.

asked the Minister for Justice when he proposes to introduce legislation to allow applications for foreign births registration being held for over two years to be proceeded with, in view of the concern being caused to descendants of Irish nationals worldwide; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am at present considering a number of changes to the legislation governing Irish citizenship including the change referred to in the Question. When the necessary consultations have been concluded I expect to be in a position to make proposals for legislative change to the Government. Any such proposals decided upon by the Government will be announced in the normal way.
