asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he has satisfied himself that the surveillance by the British Government of the Irish Embassy in London, reported in January 1987 has ceased; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am satisfied that my Department can communicate with our missions in a secure manner and I can assure the Deputy that all necessary steps are taken, as a matter of course, to maintain the security of official communications.
