Vol. 388 No. 5

Written Answers. - Unleaded Petrol.

180.

asked the Minister for Communications if, following the exhortations of the Minister for the Environment in respect of the use of unleaded petrol he has corresponded with all the semi-State bodies under his aegis directing them to use unleaded petrol in all of the petrol driven vehicles which are under the control, ownership or leasing of those semi-State companies; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am giving every possible support to the campaign to promote the greater use of unleaded petrol and I have corresponded with the State bodies under my aegis in the matter. However, I have no statutory authority to direct any of these bodies to use a particular type of vehicle or fuel.
