Vol. 388 No. 5

Written Answers. - Kildare VEC Schools Expenses.

266.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that Vocational Education Committee schools in County Kildare are expected to utilise normal running expenses for the provision of materials in respect of practical subjects; if this will seriously interfere with the ability of the vocational education committee to provide for an established service; the action she proposes to take; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department issue an annual financial allocation to all vocational education committees including Co. Kildare VEC. Instructions accompanying the allocation indicate that priority must be accorded within the allocation to, inter alia, the maintenance of essential second-level school services. It is a matter for individual VECs to manage their resources to ensure that this priority is met. I am not aware of any difficulties in this regard in County Kildare VEC.
