Vol. 389 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

112.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in payment of a tax rebate to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and when payment will be made.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that since ceasing employment in December 1988 the taxpayer has submitted two claims for repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment. A cheque in settlement of the first claim was issued to the taxpayer on 7 February 1989. A cheque in settlement of his second claim has now been certified and will be issued to the taxpayer shortly.

The inspector of taxes will now communicate directly with the taxpayer requesting the details necessary to enable a review of his tax liability for 1988-89 to be carried out. On completion of the review any further refund found to be due will be made.
