Vol. 389 No. 3

Written Answers. - Excise Refund.

49.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in granting a refund of excise to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 who has already received a VAT refund on a car purchase in August 1988 specially adjusted to suit a disabled person.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that a repayment of excise duty was made to the person in question under the disabled drivers scheme on 24 April 1989.

It was only following correspondence and the recent receipt of further medical evidence clarifying the claimant's medical condition that the Commissioners were in a position to be satisfied as to the claimant's eligibility for repayment of excise duty.
