Vol. 389 No. 7

Written Answers. - Raheny (Dublin) Patrol Car.

67.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will consider the provision of an additional Garda car to Raheny Garda station, Dublin 5, with responsibility for patrolling the Kilbarrack area in view of the increase in crime in the area recently; if he will outline his proposals for community policing in the Dublin north-east area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Garda authorities inform me that the current allocation of two Garda cars and one motorcycle to Raheny station is adequate to meet the current needs of the area. The Garda authorities also inform me that they have no indication of any recent upsurge in crime in the Kilbarrack area and that the crime situation in the Raheny subdistrict generally, so far this year, is considerably improved in comparison with the corresponding period last year.

I stated the position regarding community policing in the Dublin north-east area in my reply to the Deputy's question of 14 February 1989 (No. 37) and the situation remains unchanged.
