Vol. 392 No. 9

Written Answers. - Garda Patrol Car for North Kildare.

82.

asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the request by residents of North Kildare for the location in Maynooth and Celbridge of a Garda patrol car; having regard to the needs of the area, if he will sanction such a proposal this year or in the context of the 1990 Estimates; if he will ensure adequate Garda patrols in the area particularly in the run up to Christmas; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the question of allocating a patrol car to Maynooth station is currently being examined in the light of transport resources generally in the Naas Garda District.

I am also informed by the Garda authorities that the patrolling arrangements for the Maynooth and Celbridge areas will continue to be closely monitored to ensure that all available Garda resources will be deployed to best advantage in these areas, particularly in the coming weeks.
