The proceeds of the national lottery are held in the national lottery fund account at the Central Bank from which surplus funds are transferred into the Exchequer as required to meet expenditure on approved programmes.
Transfers totalling £34.378 million have been made from the fund to the Exchequer in 1989 to date in respect of the following allocations to individual spending Departments.
