465 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport when the last review of pension took place for Iarnród Éireann staff; when the next review is likely to take place; and the current pension scale.
I am taking it that the Deputy's question refers to the annual review of the pensions of retired Iarnród Éireann staff who were members of the CIE wages grades pension scheme. The pensions of all former CIE employees who are in receipt of pensions from the scheme in question are reviewed annually in July along similar lines to the review of public service pensions; the last such review took place on 1 July 1989. The next review is due to take place on 1 July 1990. The current pension rates for wages grade staff, which are paid in addition to State retirement benefits, are set out in the following table:
