Vol. 395 No. 7

Written Answers. - Reactor Grants.

Michael Finucane

Question:

55 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of staff involved in payment duties for reactor grants in Cavan; if computerisation is involved in processing; the timescale involved in processing applications; if some accounts staff are involved in other duties; and, if so, the duties in which they are involved.

Seven members of staff in my Department's accounts division in Cavan are involved in processing reactor grants and other payments for brucellosis, income supplement, depopulation grants and miscellaneous payments. Following manual input of details, payable orders in respect of reactor grants are generated by computer and payment is normally made within a two week period of receipt of claims in accounts division. The system will be fully computerised shortly.
