Vol. 395 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ministers of Culture Meeting.

Edward Nealon

Question:

10 Mr. Nealon asked the Taoiseach if a meeting of the Ministers of Culture of the EC will be held in this country during the Irish Presidency.

The meeting of the Ministers of Culture under the Irish Presidency in May will be a formal meeting and must, therefore, be held in Brussels.

In view of the fact that Dublin has been designated as the Cultural Capital of Europe for 1991, and that the Ministers responsible for culture in the various member states can play an important part in getting us suitable exhibitions, will the Taoiseach consider having an informal meeting of the Council during the Presidency in Ireland?

It could be considered but a formal meeting has been fixed for Brussels on 18 May.
