Question:

110 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for the Environment when he proposes to lay before Dáil Éireann the regulation to outlaw the marketing, sale and distribution of bituminous coal in the built up area of Dublin, as is laid down in section 10 (4) of the Air Pollution Act, 1987.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 109 and 110 together.

As announced in the environment action programme, the Government has decided that the marketing, sale and distribution of bituminous coal in the built-up area of Dublin will be prohibited with effect from 1 October 1990.

The regulations necessary to give effect to this decision are being prepared and will be made as soon as possible.
