Vol. 396 No. 3

Written Answers. - Planning Appeal Fees.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

168 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for the Environment the reason the fees for planning appeals and oral hearings have been increased to a level whereby ordinary individuals find it extremely difficult to lodge an appeal; and if he has taken into account the problems which environmental and community organisations will have as the group fee has also been increased considerably.

Fees payable to An Board Pleanála in respect of planning appeals and related matters were revised with effect from 1 February, 1990. This was the first revision of these fees since 1985, and I do not consider that the revised fees are excessive. The new fees structure maintains provision for a reduced fee in relation to appeals made by prescribed bodies.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

169 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide funds to Dublin Corporation this year in order to develop the proposed housing on the north side of James' Street in view of the very dilapidated state of the site; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The capital available for the 1990 local authority housing construction programme was fully allocated to the housing authorities on 22 February, 1990. It is now a matter for each authority to decide on the schemes they wish to commence this year having regard to the level of new work authorised for them.
