Vol. 396 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Refund.

Liam Aylward

Question:

98 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange to have an income tax refund paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny which is owed since April 1989, where all details have been submitted to the tax office.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer submitted a claim for repayment of tax for the year 1988/89 to the inspector of taxes in May 1989. The taxpayer worked for a period in the United Kingdom in that year. The inspector advised her to obtain a statement of her final UK liability from the UK inspector of taxes so that her claim could be dealt with. The taxpayer has experienced difficulty in obtaining this statement. The Revenue Commissioners will take the matter up with the UK inspector on the taxpayer's behalf.
