Vol. 397 No. 10

Written Answers. - Clontarf (Dublin) Amenity Funding.

Richard Bruton

Question:

52 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider using funds from the national lottery for the restoration of Clontarf Baths, Dublin 3, which were damaged in recent storms and whose owners are unable to provide the 30 per cent local contribution required under the terms for amenity grants, in view of the heavy reliance of water polo in this pool; and if his attention has been drawn to the danger of loss of these unique sea-water baths to the whole community.

The only national lottery funds available to me from which assistance could be given for the restoration of Clontarf Baths are those provided for the purposes of the amenities recreational facilities grants scheme. However, the list of applications recommended by Dublin Corporation under the scheme does not include any project relating to these baths.
