Vol. 397 No. 10

Written Answers. - House Improvements Grants.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

53 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that, following the visits of building inspectors to inspect houses in connection with house improvements grants, the delays in releasing the cheques are in many cases so great as to leave grant recipients no better off financially, as in many cases the grants go to service the interest accruing on bridging loans; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is, in general, no undue delay in the processing and payment of house improvement grants. If the Deputy has a particular case in mind, I will have it looked into on receipt of details.
