Vol. 397 No. 10

Written Answers. - Environmental Improvements Expenditure.

Liam Kavanagh

Question:

59 Mr. Kavanagh asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the way in which it is proposed to spend the capital sum of £2.5 million for environmental improvements in designated areas; if he will specify the exact amount that will be spent in each local authority area; the nature of the work to be undertaken and the extent and location of the area in question; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A sum of £2.5 million is being provided in 1990 for urban renewal grants to assist works by local authorities to upgrade the environment of the designated areas or to complement other development under the urban renewal programme. Allocations to individual local authorities on the basis of suitable works will be finalised shortly.
