Question:31 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Energy if the opening date for the extension of tree development grants of £800 per hectare nationwide will be in 1990.

New and improved forestry grants are provided for in an operational programme for forestry which is now in the final stages of negotiation with the European Commission. EC approval for the programme is expected in June, in which case the grants should apply to work completed on or after 1 July 1990.
