Question:

84 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the Ballyhagan/Clonkeen Bog Trust existed and functioned continuously from 1904 to date; if the trust did not function for any period during this time; if so, for how long; if the present trust was set up with the approval of his Department; if so, when; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Land Commission were a party to the indenture of trust dated 4 August 1904. They were also a party to the appointment of new trustees in 1979 and 1981. I understand that this trust was inactive — by and large — for upwards of thirty years before being again revived in the late 1970's.
