Vol. 399 No. 2

Written Answers. - Naas, Kildare, School Project.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

93 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education when it is expected to proceed with the existence to St. David's national school, Naas, County Kildare; if she will indicate the remaining stages to be proceeded with prior to actual start of site works; if she expects site works to commence before the end of the summer holidays; if her attention has been drawn to the urgent need for the provision of the facilities involved; if she will give an indication as to the date by which the extension will be in place and occupied; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I have already given approval for the invitation of tenders to proceed. However, my Department are still awaiting the submission of title documents to the school site from the school authorities. When title documents are received they will be examined and if in order then approved by the Chief State Solicitor.

It is not possible at this stage to give the requested information on the time scale of building, occupation etc. I assure the Deputy that there will be no delay in my Department in issuing approval for the placing of tenders or placing of contact in order that the school gets its very necessary extension.
