Vol. 399 No. 10

Written Answers. - EC Flag.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

62 Mr. Garland asked the Taoiseach his views on whether there are any circumstances in which the EC flag should be flown without the Irish flag beside it; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The protocol governing the European Community Flag would in general involve its being treated with the same courtesy and respect as is afforded to the national flags of the member states.

When the National Flag is flown, it is expected that the guidelines as set out in An Bhratach Náisiúnta will be followed. I am arranging for a copy of these guidelines to be sent to the Deputy for his information.
