Vol. 399 No. 10

Written Answers. - Transportation of Toxic Waste.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

125 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the precautions planned to protect the public and the transport workers from exposure to toxic waste during the air, sea, rail and/or road transportation of the waste for the proposed toxic waste incinerator.

The transportation of wastes for incineration will be subject to the normal range of controls on the movement of dangerous substances. These arise mainly in the context of the ADR agreement which is primarily a matter for the Department of Labour.
