Question:

51 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Education the plans her Department have to grant aid a new school at Doohamlet, Castleblayney, County Monaghan; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I have approved the provision of a new national school at Doohamlet, County Monaghan and it is my intention that the new building be available at the earliest possible date. The preparation of tender documents for the project is well advanced but it will not be possible to complete these until the outcome of an appeal to An Bord Pleanála regarding certain planning conditions is known.

When the tender documents have been completed the question of the invitation of tenders will be considered and a decision conveyed to the school authorities with the minimum of delay.
