Vol. 400 No. 9

Written Answers. - Feed Substitute Value.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

126 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the feeding value of nuts relative to hay; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Assuming that the reference to nuts means compound feedingstuffs in pelleted form, it is difficult to make a precise comparison between the feeding value of hay — which is subject to considerable variation — and that of pelleted feedingstuffs. However, in general it would be expected that hay would have between 40 per cent and 70 per cent of the feeding value of pelleted feedingstuffs.
