Vol. 402 No. 3

Written Answers. - Shooting of Greenland Geese.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

87 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Finance if he has had any request for, or has decided to allow the shooting of the Greenland white fronted goose in their wintering grounds in County Wexford this year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have received several requests to allow shooting of Greenland white fronted geese in County Wexford during the 1990-1991 open season.

I have decided, in the interests of conservation of the species, not to permit shooting of Greenland white fronted geese during this season.
