88 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if he will instruct the Office of Public Works to carry out immediate improvements to the chimney of the house of persons (details supplied) in County Kildare and thereby eliminate a fire hazard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
An inspection of the house in question by the Office of Public Works has shown that the problem complained of by the occupants arose from lack of regular routine cleaning of the range installed in the house and not from any basic defect in the chimney. The matter has been rectified for the present and further instructions as to future operation and maintenance of the range are being issued to the occupants.
