Vol. 403 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tralee, (Kerry) Hospital Physiotherpy Services.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

23 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Health if he will give an assurance that the outpatients' physiotherapy service in Tralee General Hospital, County Kerry, will be restored.

The provision of physiotherapy services at Tralee General Hospital is a matter in the first instance for the Southern Health Board. Arising from the unfortunate and unavoidable temporary absence recently of four physiotherapists it has been necessary for the board to temporarily suspend the physiotherapy out-patient service.

I am assured that the Southern Health Board is making every effort to replace the staff on leave as a matter of urgency with a view to restoring the service. Arrangements for an emergency service have been made. I will be keeping the matter under review.
