Vol. 403 No. 5

Written Answers. - Entry to Arts Degree Course.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

85 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education the reason a person (details supplied) in Waterford who has the required number of points for entry to the Arts degree course in UCG, was not granted a place on the course; if she can assist this person in gaining a place on the course; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Applications for admission to courses in UCG are processed on the basis of the selection procedures operated through the Central Applications Office. My Department have no role in the function of the CAO which is an independent agency established by the relevant third level institutions. The Deputy will appreciate, therefore, that it would not be for my Department to furnish the reply requested.

I would ask the Deputy to address the question directly to the CAO at Tower House, Eglinton Street, Galway.
