Vol. 403 No. 8

Written Answers. - Garda Protective Clothing.

Enda Kenny

Question:

141 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Justice if he is satisfied that the yellow luminous overjackets provided for gardaí involved in traffic checkpoints are of the highest standard available in terms of night visibility; if he has any proposals to change the colour and design standard of such provisions; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Garda authorities inform me that the standard of all protective clothing worn by members of the Garda Síochána is kept under regular review to ensure that the force benefit from any improvements in such clothing coming on the market. Such a review of the yellow overjackets referred to in the question is currently under way. No change in the colour of the overjackets is envisaged.
