Vol. 403 No. 9

Written Answers. - Balbriggan (Dublin) By-Pass.

Nora Owen

Question:

76 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make funds available to Dublin County Council to continue the building of the inner Balbriggan by-pass, as this road is urgently needed and the council do not have the funds from their own resources.

In 1985, my Department informed Dublin County Council that it was not proposed to provide road grant assistance to the local authority for the 4.3 km inner Balbriggan by-pass.

The revised proposals for a Balbriggan by-pass, involving a 11.5 km new route from south of Balrotherty to north of Gormanston, have been taken into consideration in the preparation of the operational programme on peripherality, which was approved by the EC Commission last August. This programme will be published later this week.
