Vol. 404 No. 6

Written Answers. - Underage Drinking.

William Cotter

Question:

49 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Justice if he will review the law in relation to the consumption of alcohol on licensed premises with a view to controlling the incidence of teenage abuse of alcohol; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1988 introduced a wide range of measures aimed at curbing underage drinking. I am satisfied that these measures provide a proper statutory framework within which the problem of underage drinking can be successfully tackled.
