Vol. 404 No. 9

Written Answers. - Unfair Dismissals Award.

Paul Bradford

Question:

138 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Labour if he will assist a person (details supplied) in County Cork in his efforts to recover moneys due to him following an unfair dismissals case.

The employee concerned was awarded a sum by the Employment Appeals Tribunal under the Unfair Dismissals Act, 1977. As the employer failed to pay the award the employee's solicitors referred the matter to my Department in accordance with the provision of the Act whereby the Minister for Labour is empowered to institute proceedings for the recovery of such sums. Papers are currently being prepared for submission to my legal advisers for consideration as to the institution of such proceedings.
