Vol. 404 No. 9

Written Answers. - Fuel Prices.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

142 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Energy the price changes which have been sanctioned since August 1990 in respect of (a) leaded petrol, (b) unleaded petrol, (c) domestic heating oil, (d) road diesel and (e) kerosene for domestic use.

Prices payable for petrol and gasoil purchased from the Whitegate Refinery under the terms of the Fuels (Petroleum Oils) Orders 1983 to 1989 are determined by the Minister for Energy each month. Prices are set on a US$ per tonne basis. The following table gives details of prices determined by me from August 1990 to February 1991. The Whitegate price for petrol applies to leaded petrol and Euro unleaded petrol, 95 Octane level. The Whitegate gasoil price applies to gas oil for use as domestic heating oil or as road diesel. Kerosene is not produced by the refinery at present.

Wholesale and retail prices of petrol and road diesel are determined by the Minister for Industry and Commerce.
