Vol. 404 No. 9

Written Answers. - Medical Card Refusal.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

191 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim, who is in receipt of a reduced rate of unemployment assistance, was refused a medical card.

The question of determining eligibility for a medical card in individual cases is the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the appropriate health board. Accordingly, in this instance, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer, North-Western Health Board, with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
