Question:

223 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Education the number and proportion of national school boards of management which have a lay rather than a clerical chairperson in the following categories (a) denominational schools, (b) all Irish speaking schools, (c) special schools, and (d) multi-denominational schools.

The approximate numbers and proportions, in the categories specified, of national school boards of management which have lay chairpersons rather than clerical chairpersons—chairpersons who are members of religious orders — are as follows:
