Vol. 404 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dungarvan (Waterford) Schools Rationalisation.

Austin Deasy

Question:

227 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education if she will outline the latest developments regarding the amalgamation and rationalisation of post-primary schools in Dungarvan, County Waterford.

Prior to the current school year there were five post-primary schools in Dungarvan: Christian Brothers' School (Boys); St. Augustine's School (Boys); The Mercy Secondary School (Girls); The Presentation Secondary School (Girls); The Vocational School (Co-educational).

With my approval, the Mercy and Presentation secondary schools have now amalgamated into a single school and the Augustinian School has become co-educational, effective from the commencement of the 1990-91 school year.
