244 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications whether any discussions have taken place with RTE and/or with Roinn na Gaeltachta regarding the establishment of Teilifís na Gaeltachta; and if so, if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to the Official Report volume 399, column 773/774 of 30 May 1990, which sets out the position of my Department on this question. A policy decision regarding the establishment of a Teilifís na Gaeltachta rests, in the first instance, with Roinn na Gaeltachta.
