82 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the current rates of all allowances applicable to Civil Service general service grades.

The following are the current rates of allowances applicable to Civil Service general service grades

Private Secretary to Minister

£4,787 a year

Private Secretary to Minister of State

£4,787 a year

Private Secretary to Secretary of Department

£2,535 a year

Clerical Officer on computer programming duties

£906 a year

Clerical Assistant on confidential duties

£6.53 a week

Clerical Assistant on Word Processor duties

£8.56 a week

Clerical Assistant on Vari-Typer duties

£14.36 a week

Clerical Assistant on Clerical Officer duties

£14.67 a week

Messenger on machine duties

£6.52 — £9.14 a week

Messenger on Supervisory/Assistant Head Messenger duties

£16.56 a week

Messenger on driving duties

£9.60 a year

Higher Executive Officer and equivalent grades:

Delegate's Allowance

£27.46 (1st night), £9.15

Chairman's Allowance

£18.34 a day

Grades above Higher Executive Officer:

Delegate's Allowance

£55.87 (1st night), £15.99

Chairman's Allowance

£19.96 a day

Travel on Saturday, Sunday, Public Holiday

£19.96 a day

Other allowances, relating to circumstances in individual cases, may be paid to members of the grades concerned but they are not applicable in Departments generally.
