Vol. 404 No. 9

Written Answers. - Survey on Disadvantaged Areas.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

103 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the areas in County Kildare in respect of which (a) local interests requested his Department to carry out a survey in connection with the review of the extent of disadvantaged areas (b) surveys were actually carried out by his Department.

As some 333 townlands in County Kildare applied to be surveyed and were surveyed in the 1989 nationwide review of disadvantaged areas, the compilation of the comprehensive lists sought by the Deputy at (a) and (b) would require an inordinate amount of staff time and resources which would not be warranted in present circumstances.
