Vol. 406 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tenant Purchase Schemes.

John Bruton

Question:

34 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment if he agrees with the recommendation by NESC, in respect of tenant purchase schemes for local authority houses, that there be variations in terms of sales so that low demand and high demand dwellings command higher and lower discounts respectively.

The 1988 tenant purchase scheme, for the first time, uses market value as the sole basis for determining the gross sale price of a house. This ensures that all relevant factors, including location, are reflected in the sale price of houses.
