Vol. 406 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dublin Zoo.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

46 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Education whether any guidelines have been issued as to the manner in which the new allocation of moneys is to be spent for the zoo; if she will make a statement on the matter; if she will outline the legal owner of the zoo; whether the land is still under lease to the zoo; and the conditions appertaining to the lease.

In providing a grant of £670,000 to the zoo in December 1990, it was indicated to the zoo that the money was being provided towards their current deficit and towards the deficit that would arise in the off-season. It was also indicated that the zoo's financial liabilities to the Revenue Commissioners should be discharged without delay.

The other matters raised by the Deputy are matters for the Office of Public Works.
